Dear Members,
COVID lockdowns have lifted in the Snowys, so our lodges are open. Perisher ran the V8 from lunch time Thursday and will run Perisher Valley lifts (not Guthega or Blue Cow). Thredbo will run Kosciuszko Express Chair, Cruiser Express Chair, Merritts Gondola, Basin T and Antons T from Saturday 18 Sept. There is also plenty of untracked snow available in the back country.
While I am amongst the great majority of members still locked down and unable to go, I encourage members who are able to travel to visit our lodges to ski and to stay in a COVID Safe manner. You’ll need to contact our Admin Manager Mark Green if you wish to stay within the next week, otherwise please book in the usual manner on the website.
The Australian ski industry is in serious financial pain. Should you be in a position to visit and spend a little in a few small family owned businesses I am sure they will be very pleased for your trade. If you can’t make it to the mountains then it may be a great time to buy those new boots, jacket or planks that you know you need for next season – the retailers in the cities are also suffering and would be grateful for your custom.
Your club is enduring this pain. Please be assured that the club remains on a sound financial footing despite having paid over quarter of a million dollars in refunds in July and August.
I look forward to catching up with you in our lodges and on the slopes – if not this year, then next.
Stay safe,
James Lawrence
