Public Health (COVID-19 Restrictions on Gathering and Movement) Order 2020

Dear Members,
This is a quick note to ensure everyone is aware of the NSW Public Health (COVID-19 Restrictions on Gathering and Movement) Order 2020. You can find the order at
Among other things, this orders people not to leave their place of residence without a reasonable excuse. There are definitions of “reasonable excuse”, none of which would allow members to stay in our lodges for holidays. Part 2 clause 5 (4) on page 5 states “Taking a holiday in a regional area is not a reasonable excuse.” It is very clear that we are now under Government orders to be closed.
The Order provides for penalties for individuals up to 6 months prison and fines up to $11,000 with a further $5,500 for each day the offence continues, and fines up to $55,000 plus $27,500 per day for Corporations.
The order commenced at the beginning of 31 March 2020 and will expire at the end of 29 June 2020 unless it is revoked earlier. This tells us that we will be closed until at least July.
You might like to take a glance at the order. The last two pages list “reasonable excuses” for being outside your place of residence and define “Essential gatherings” which are exempt from the requirement that not more than two people may gather.
